Already well travelled at just 29 years of age, Omega Harris landed in Canada ahead of the inaugural Basketball Super League season and hit the ground running with his new team, the Newfoundland Rogues.

Harris began his tenure with the Rogues scoring in double digits in five out of his first six games, beginning a season-long trend for the versatile all-arounder. In the 2023-24 season he scored in double digits more often than he didn't, including nine games in a row where he finished with ten-plus points.

On March 28th, shooting perfectly from the field on the night, he recorded a season-high 30 points against the Rhode Island Kraken. He followed this up by nearly totalling a double-double against the same team two nights later. His unassuming nature made him a secret weapon for the Rogues throughout his first season with the team and his ability to create scoring chances made him a force to be reckoned with in 2023-24.

Harris came to the Super League after debuting in Mexico with Abejas de Leon, it wouldn't be long before he would see success. In 2021 he became champion of The Basketball League with the Enid Outlaws in Oklahoma, contributing 6.6 points and 3.4 assists in 28 appearances the championship season.

Following this Harry saw similar success in Armenia. Playing for Erebuni Yerevan in Armenia, he led the league in assists (12.9 per game) and steals (2.8 per game) as well as averaging 22.9 points and 8.7 rebounds. It was the second straight season he won a championship and in addition scooped up 2022 League A MVP honors.

From here Harris went on to Antranik Beirut in Lebanon and returned to the TBL with the Medora Timberjacks, making his way to Newfoundland soon after. Harris's professional journey so far comes off the back of impressive showing from a young age.

As a senior at Putnam City West High, Harris averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds per game and was runner-up in the state championship, where he scored 25 in the title game. After graduating he joined the UTEP Miners in the NCAA, starting in 20 games as a freshman and appeared in the first round of the NIT, losing 88-61 to Murray State Racers.

He had his best performance in his sophomore years, where he averaged 12.3 points in 20 games, all of which he started in. He finished his NCAA career with an 11.8 scoring average on 42% shooting in 119 games.

Omega Harris has walked a long road to Newfoundland but after arriving very quickly made a name for himself. Time will tell if what he started in 2023-24 will continue, but his performances in the Super League with the Rogues will stay in the mind of fans who were fortunate enough to see him for some time to come.
