NBLC Recap: February 15th

Saturday night in the NBL Canada saw two very different inter-divisional games, the one similarity between them being the high-scoring performances from players on all four.

St. John's Edge vs London Lightning

The Lightning opened with a 12-0 run in a first quarter where the Edge struggled to keep up. In the second, Junior Cadougan and Ahmad Thomas started to make up the difference for the visitors, but with London still superior in the filed, they went to the locker rooms ahead by fourteen.

St. John’s finally sprang into form when the game resumed - outdoing London in field despite the efforts of Marcus Capers to keep the lead with the Lightning. The Edge trailed by three going into the final period, where they soon took the lead, behind Cane Broome putting up the last 18 of his team-high 27 points in the fourth.

Outscoring London 74-49 in the second half, the Edge completed the incredible comeback win by a final margin of 109-98. Capers led the scoring with 29 points for London, while Garrett Williamson had 18 points and 10 assists in the contest. Cadougan had 24 points for the Edge while Montay Brandon had 12 points and 10 assists off the bench in the win.

Island Storm vs Moncton Magic

Moncton took an early lead after a twelve-point unanswered run, and with Corey Allmond and Jason Calliste continuing to hit from beyond the arc, they led the Storm by 22 at the end of the first quarter.

The Storm could not make any significant threats in the second and third, in which the Magic took their biggest lead of the game at 44 points. The Storm bench had 20 points in the final period, but that or nothing else could save them from a rampant Moncton side.

Lewis Diankulu had a team-high 14 points off the Storm bench, while Allmond led the scoring with 25 points for the Magic, who saw seven others finish in double digits in the blowout win, 120 points to 80 over the Island Storm.
