It may be hard to believe but NBL Canada staple Terry Thomas, after six seasons of service, had captured himself a player award for the first time. The Nova Scotian guard will be adding to his mantelpiece the Sixth Man and Canadian of the Year awards after a stellar stint with the London Lightning.

Here is Terry Thomas at his very best throughout what has been a stand-out part of his NBLC tenure, all of them clear evidence of why is thoroughly deserving of his new accolades.

March 6th vs Lansing Pharaohs

Still early on in the season, Thomas showed the value he had as London's sixth man. He played just 21 minutes against the Lansing Pharaohs but in that time had the highest individual score for the Lightning, totaling nineteen in the contest that helped propel his team to victory, flying the Canadian flag in the face of stubborn American opposition.

April 22nd @ Windsor Express

A very polarizing moment in Thomas's 2022: while the Lightning were unsuccessful in getting the win against the Windsor Express, he himself played spectacularly. Here he hit a season-high 35 points - more than a third of all London points scored for London on the night and in just thirty-nine minutes on the floor. With such a showing it was hard to know what else Thomas or London could have done here to prevent one of only three losses on the season.

May 1st @ Windsor Express

Thomas's best performance of the whole season was when he and the Lightning got revenge on the Windsor for the earlier defeat. Here he led all on the floor with 35 points and 15 rebounds on 57% shooting as the Lightning blew out their neighbours and rivals 113-99.

Thomas would not be done putting the Express to the sword: in the playoffs he had back-to-back double-doubles in games two and three as London completed their first round sweep of Windsor en route to their sixth finals appearance.

Both awards are long-overdue honours for NBLC veteran Thomas, after playing such an important and pivotal role for the Lightning and helping them on their way to a record-breaking season, he has thoroughly deserved the praise and recognition for his efforts in 2022.
