CPL Week 5: The Four Main Moments

Another week, another four Canadian Premier League matches, much more extraordinary highlights to be seen from all the action.

1. Pacific Make It Five in a Row

Once again on home turf in Langdon the defending CPL champions continued on their winning ways. Alejandro Diaz converted a loose ball in the box after ten minutes, then an hour the home team's advantage doubled when Manny Aparicio found Josh Heard in the box for a similar goal. Wesley Timoteo added one for visiting Edmonton off a corner deep into the second half, but it was all that the visitors wrote and Pacific extend their win streak to five.

2. Great Goals in Hamilton

The match-up between Forge and Atletico Ottawa did not see many goals, but those that came were sights to be seen. Oliver Basset found the smallest gap from the narrowest angle to put the ball into the top left hand corner of the Forge goal.

Equally impressive was Noah Jensen who launched the ball from far outside the box with such a blast and finding the back of the net to begin the second half. They were the only goals on the day but it was very much quality over quantity.

3. Late Drama in Halifax

Cavalry were the first to get off the mark at the Wanderers Ground but their advantage over HFX would only last so long: the home team's play off set pieces paying them big dividends, they led going into extra time and victory seemed assured.

Yet Cavalry saved the very best moment for last: With one of the very last plays of the game, Ali Musse delivered a free kick from far out into the crowded box and found Daan Klomp, who directed it goalward and saved the visitors from a late loss in some style.

4. Sean Rea's Wonder Strike in Winnipeg

For almost the entire length of the match home team Valour and the visiting York United kept coming up short and missing opportunities, but with time winding down it was do or die for either team - and the one getting it done was Valour's Sean Rea, shocking and stunning everyone with his late goal from nowhere that would won his team three points.

Keep checking back for weekly highlights of the very best the Canadian Premier League has on show.
