Canadian Premier League: Five Moments of the Week

A long week full of Canadian Premier League action made for much entertainment with plenty of highlight moments along the way. Here are the five biggest talking points from the CPL week just gone:

1. Salter Cleans Up for the Wanderers

FC Edmonton looked good early on after Wesley Timoteo gave them the lead after ten minutes, but after seemingly on course to win for much of the match an HFX forward completely flipped the script. In just six minutes Sam Salter had not only equalised, but given the visiting Wanderers the lead which eventually became the win for the visiting Wanderers in stunning scenes at Clarke Field.

2. Six-Goal Thriller in Winnipeg

The two participants of one of the most infamous CPL games went at it again, producing even more drama in exactly the same place they did years before. Cavalry were in command at IG Field, though Valour were not prepared to take it lying down. That they would not accept the loss and kept the pressure on Cavalry made this match all the more exciting and intriguing to the very end. Full highlights below:

3. Ponce Gets Highlight Moment

On what was an otherwise dim night for Valour, one bright moment came courtesy of Walter Ponce. His team down two the striker got one back on Cavalry in some style:

4. Forge Fire Three On Road to HFX

Two teams sat level in the middle of the table were separated quite dramatically after ninety minutes at the Wanderers Ground.

The home team fell behind thanks to Forge's Woobens Pacius and Noah Jensen getting open looks in the box early on. Things started to get even worse for HFX as the game came to an end, they had a player sent off, then Emery Welshman picked up the loose ball from Terran Campbell to bring Forge's total to three on the road to the Wanderers.

5. Eddies' Long Wait is Over

Twelve matches in and FC Edmonton finally had their first win of the season. Bicou Bissainte's goal off a corner was not the most assured of attempts, but that and Atletico Ottawa unable to get an equaliser was enough to secure FCE the win that has eluded them all season, until now.
