Over in Japan there was a lot of drama in Sendai as the Yokohama B.Corsairs found themselves in a grudge match on the road against the Sendai 89ers. Both teams showed great basketball skills throughout the forty minutes of action as they battled it out over the all-important win.

Yokohama’s transition offence saw them build a first-quarter double-digit lead, while Sendai quickly cut down that lead from beyond the arc and the score was tied early in the second quarter. The game was a much more close contest from then on, with rarely more than a single possession between teams to the last moments.

Sendai’s bigs kept them in the lead and prevented any easy shots on their defensive end. This saw them on a seven-point lead going into the fourth, where Yokohama played well as a team and creativity on offence saw them close the gap and eventually go up by one in the final stretch.

The teams exchanged baskets in the final minutes, but with Yokohama making the last of them, they guaranteed they would be in the win column at the end of what was a highly entertaining and unpredictable clash of two teams evenly matched.

Stanton Kidd was a dominant force on offence for Sendai, he led all scorers with 21 points despite the loss for the 89ers. His team mate Cristiano Felicio had a perfect game on offence, making every shot attempt as he finished with 14 points as well as 11 rebounds.

Damien Inglis led Yokohama with 13 points off the bench, one of five players finishing the game in double digits, in a team performance that bodes well for the Corsairs for the rest of the season.
