Armani Chaney did something unheard of playing for the Newfoundland Rogues in the first Super League season. For the entire 2023-24 season, he scored in double digits on his every appearance. Opening the season with back-to-back 29 points games for the Rogues, he followed this with three double-doubles in a row, his total double-doubles would be fourteen by season's end.

Five times Chaney passed the forty-point mark and during the post-season he had a run of six games scoring thirty-plus points. While he was spectacular all the way through the season, Chaney saved his very best for last. On the Rogues' very last game of the season - a playoff game against the KW Titans - he scored 52 points, which became a record for the league.

As well as recording two triple-doubles, he led the league in scoring, three-point shooting, assists, steals and was in the top five for defence. With unrivalled statistics to his name, he was the easy choice to be the inaugural Super League MVP.

His journey to here began with the St. Rita Mustangs in Chicago, where he played varsity for three years. At the end of his high school career, averaging 14.7 points, 8.5 assists and 4.0 steals as a senior, Chaney earned a place with NCAA D1 team, the TSU Tigers. In his first year in Tennessee he emerged as a team player and an exceptional passer, skills which earned him a starting spot the following year.

He ended his senior year at TSU with an 8.6 scoring average and then began his professional career with the Chicago Fury in the ABA, then with Santa Ana in El Salvador before returning home to join the Kokomo BobKats in The Basketball League.

Staying in The Basketball League, Chaney made the move north and joined the Newfoundland Rogues. In his first season in St. John's he flourishes on offence as the team's leading scorer and was among the highest players in points and assists on the 2022-23 season. He helped the Rogues reach the playoff quarter finals where they were ultimately eliminated by the Albany Patroons.

Little did Newfoundland know what this standout season would lead to the following year when the team joined the Basketball Super League. There Chaney would emerge as the team leader and an unstoppable force on offence, which helped to establish the Rogues as a team to be reckoned with.
