The NBL Canada goes to lengths to recognise the best native talent playing in the league each season, hence both its annual All-Canadian team awards. Here are the best moments from the 2019-20 season from all five of this year's second All-Canadian team:
Chris Johnson
Forward, Halifax Hurricanes
20 GP, 10.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG
The ever-dependable role player for the Hurricanes scored a season-high 24 points against the St. John's Edge on January 26th. Days before against the London Lightning he shot 60% from the field and was perfect from beyond the arc to total 18 points off the Halifax bench.
Jarryn Skeete
Guard, Sudbury Five
13 GP, 9.7 PPG, 3.2 RPG
Though he was a latecomer to Sudbury this season, Skeete wasted no time in making an impression. In just his second game, on February 1st, he came off the bench to score 12 points in the second quarter en route to 24 points in the contest, second only to Jaylen Bland in the game, but his best show on offence in 2020.
Denzell Taylor
Forward, Moncton Magic
23 GP, 7.5 PPG, 7.7 RPG
The NBLC's number one offensive rebounder and a top ten finisher in blocks, something about playing against the Island Storm brought out the best in Taylor this season.
After scoring a season-high 14 points against them on February 15th, he then had a perfect offensive performance against them on March 6th. It was one of six times he shot 100% from the field in this season, this time he contributed 12 bench points in Moncton's forty-point win over the Storm.
Nigel Tyghter
Forward, KW Titans
25 GP, 7.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG
2019-20 was a breakthrough sesaon for the Bramptonian, having played a minor role last time out he grew to become one of the best rebounders for the KW Titans. In his last game of the season he grabbed 12 total boards to go with 16 points, playing a big part for the Titans in their 117-102 win over the Halifax Hurricanes.
Garrett Williamson
Forward, London Lightning
17 GP, 12.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG
No surprises that Williamson once again played a starring role for the London Lightning and lit up the NBLC stat sheets, finishing as the tenth-best assists man in the season.
His best showing all year came on January 11th in the local rivalry game against the Windsor Express. He went seventeen and a half minutes before missing a shot in the game, his shooting, ball control and team player ethic undeniable throughout. In London's 99-91 win, Williamson shone with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
