NBLC9 Greatest Hits: Jeremiah Mordi

It was his third NBL Canada season, but first with the Moncton Magic, and Jeremiah Mordi put his all-around abilities to good use with his new team. Demonstrating superb skills in all areas, he was named the 2019-20 Most Improved Player.

The NBLC faithful who have followed Mordi since his debut may say he was just as spectacular here as he was the first two seasons, but with career highs of 16.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game, there's no denying this has been a standout time for the veteran guard.

Here are some of his best bits from 2019-20:

January 2nd vs St. John's Edge

Mordi's fourth game of the 2019-20 season may also have been his best. He opened against St. John's with eight points in the fourth quarter, going on to lead everyone on the floor with 30 in the contest. His total was made up of five three-pointers - an indication of what was to come from him for the rest of the season, as he would lead the NBL Canada in three-point percentage. (60.3%)

January 23rd vs London Lightning

Mordi was on fire early and often against Moncton's only match-up with their biggest inter-divisional rivals this season. Working both ends of the floor, he played a big part in keeping London at bay for the first three quarters, evidenced by his final totals of 23 points and 13 rebounds in the Magic's 105-97 win.

February 10th vs Windsor Express

The visitors may have been the victors in this one, but Mordi's performance for the fallen Magic was the stand-out.

He once again came firing out of the gate, scoring 12 points in the opening period of play, but he was far from finished. Though he went cold in the second, he made up for it in the second half, where he added 21 points to bring his total to a game and season-high of 33.

February 23rd vs Halifax Hurricanes

Of course yours and everyone else's performances will go overlooked when your teammate scores 52, but Billy White was not the only one who impressed in this game.

Mordi may not have lit up the scoreboard as much as White did with only 13 points, but alongside 12 assists and 11 total rebounds, he played an overlooked but noteworthy part in one of the most memorable games of the Magic's season.
