NBLC Highlight Games: Windsor vs KW, January 23rd
These Central Division teams had met only a few days earlier, where the Express had won 125-112, now part of their two-game win streak as they came to Kitchener. Conversely, the Titans had since lost two in a row as they hosted Windsor on January 23rd. One streak would grow to three, but until the final quarter of the game it was hard to see who for.
The Titans had the better start to the game, opening with a 6-0 run, after which Shaquille Keith tied the scores twice for the Express, then gave Windsor their first lead eight minutes into the game. Akeem Scott gave KW the lead back two minutes from time, but threes from Kirk Williams and Jordan Bowling put the Express up by three at the end of an exciting first period.
On-target long-range shooting, in particular from Justin Moss, gave the lead back to the Titans. Windsor responded with nine unanswered points, which put them up by five, a gap that Moss then got down to two and then one after a late three from Akeem Ellis. Keith and Williams very quickly made Windsor's lead six points, Ellis and Jared Nickens responded in kind for KW, making it a one-point game at half time.
Windsor had thirteen points to begin the second half, eight of them coming from Chris Jones, the Express were now looking at a double-digit lead. Nickens broke the Express's scoring streak and Lynn tied the scores midway through the third. Kirk Williams put Windsor back in front and continued to hit from the field, the visitors led by six going into the final period.
Kemy Osse opened the fourth quarter with a three and his team mates followed suit, putting themselves up by ten after three minutes played. KW's three point shooting kept them within distance of Windsor, but Ryan Anderson was just as effective from outside the arc, keeping the ten-point lead with the Express ahead of the final stretch.
With Windsor locking down their defensive end, there was little the Titans could do to avoid the loss. Jordan Bowling put the last points on the board, taking the Express's total to 105 to the Titans' 97.
Moss finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, his scoring total matched by Nickens off the bench. All of Windsor's starters finished in double digits, Anderson leading with twenty points, which included five from three-point range, and Shaquille Keith had 18 points and 13 rebounds as the Express emerged victors of a hard fought-for road win over KW.
