Multi-talented and much-travelled Coron Williams returns to the place where he has seen the best results to date of his career, the St. John's Edge of the NBL Canada.
His averages of 19 points per game in his final year at Christchurch School in Virginia earned him a scholarship with the Robert Morris Colonials. An injury sidelined him his first year, but when he returned the following season he played 32 games and averaged 7.0 points.
As a sophomore he had the best results of his NCAA career, with 10.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, starting in all 37 games, a team record for a sophomore. After playing 35 games and averaging 9.1 points as a junior, he transferred to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons for his senior year, where he led the team in three-point shooting.
His first professional team would be Treviso in the Italian second division, after which he signed with the Maine Red Claws in the NBA D-League. He played 39 games and averaged 5.2 points in the 2015-16 season, numbers he built on in his second season with the team.
In fifty games, starting in twenty-four, he averaged 7.1 points as the Red Claws reached the eastern conference finals, missing out on the finals at the hands of eventual champions, Raptors 905.
Williams started the 2017-18 season with the Greensboro Swarm, but was waived after ten games. He then signed with St John’s Edge in NBL Canada, playing 27 games and averaging 13.9 points in 25.9 minutes per game. He also achieved career-bests of 3.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds as the Edge made it to the central division finals.
The following season he joined La Union de Formosa in Argentina, where he started in 43 out of 44 games and averaged 10.1 points. He then moved to Mexican team Dorados de Chihuahua, playing 38 games, 37 of which he started, and finished with season on 11.8 points per game.
In 2020 he returned to St. John's and in his first ten games of the season put up 10.4 points and 2.6 rebounds. This included five double-digit performances and a season-high nineteen against the Sudbury Five on February 19th.
On his much-welcomed return to Canada, Coron Williams once again set himself up as a high scorer for his team, much to the delight of the people of St. John's.
