Know Your Team: Kemy Osse

Windsor Express

6'1

Guard

From Montreal, Quebec

Playing all his life, Kemy Osse has seen basketball at some of its highest levels that experience has seen his stock in the NBL Canada continue to rise ever since he first came to the league and hit the ground running.

Osse showed basketball skill from an early age: he was team MVP of the Archbishop Carroll Lions in his senior year and he represented Canada at the 2010 Under-18 Americas Championship in San Antonio. He was the tournament's third-highest overall scorer and won the bronze medal, there and in the 2010 Nike Global Challenge, where he played alongside future Canadian basketball stars Andrew Wiggins, Khem Birch and Kyle Wiltjer.

At age 19, Osse joined the Little Rock Trojans. In his five years in NCAA Division 1, he averaged his best results - 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game - in his senior year, the same year he was the tenth-best three-point shooter in the Sun Belt division. He also reached the second round of the 2016 Division 1 championship after Little Rock won a memorable double-overtime victory against Purdue (they would go on to lose to Iowa State).

Osse turned professional in 2017 and signed with the Island Storm. His ability to score and work the defensive boards saw him quickly become a big role player for the team, and he finished averaging 9.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in the season, and played a big part in the Storm turning their season around to reach the playoffs.

For the 2018-19 season, Osse stayed in Canada and was reunited with his old Little Rock teammate Mareik Isom on the Saint John Riptide. In the season he played 35 games and averaged 9.4 points and 4.0 assists in a difficult season for the team, but with Osse in tow they were able to finish with a 20-20 record and take the Moncton Magic to game five in the first round of the playoffs.

Still highly valued in the NBLC, he was bandied about by a number of teams in the 2019-20 off-season, eventually signed by the Windsor Express. For the first half of his first season with the Express he scored in double digits in all but five occasions and recorded three double-doubles.

Being in Windsor has seen him flourish as a player and with time remaining on the season, all signs look good for Osse as he builds on what has so far been the best numbers of his professional career.
