NBLC Recap: February 6th

Two teams flexed their muscles at the expense of their opponents in both of NBL Canada's friday night match-ups. After a string of close results, both of the night's final games were big deviations from recent trends.

Island Storm vs Moncton Magic

Moncton showed no mercy to the Island Storm on their visit to the Avenir Centre. They went in front by double digits early on and led by nineteen at the end of the first period of play. Robbie Robinson did his best to try and turn the game around for the Storm, but there was no let up from their opponents, who were firmly in control throughout the game.

Robinson finished with a team-high 24 points for the Storm. Corey Allmond led all on the floor with 33 points, while his team mate Marcus Lewis had 17 and Jeremiah Mordi and Ronald Delph both had 15 as they took down the Storm by 130 points to 90.

St. John's Edge vs Windsor Express

Windsor took an early double digit lead and, with Sam Muldrow leading the team’s offence, finished the first quarter leading the Edge by 26 points. Montay Brandon provided the spark off the bench for St. John’s to get back into the game, but the Express still had a comfortable lead at half time.

In the second half they continued with Chris Jones putting up enough points to shut out St. John’s attempts on the other end of the court. Jones finished with 22 points and 10 assists, one of four Express starters to finish with double digit totals as they rout their visitors 112-93.

The Edge saw their highest scorer, Ahmad Thomas with 14, come off the bench, as did Montay Brandon, who recorded a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds in the loss.
