NBLC Recap: February 26th

The NBL Canada's two-game midweek slate saw rivalries re-ignited and plenty of first-rate team and individual performances across the board.

London Lightning vs Windsor Express

A late three-pointer from London’s Tyrell Green would be all that would separate the two teams at the end of a first quarter that was too close to call. The Lightning would have to fight to keep their lead in the second quarter, and the pressure from the Express finally saw them take the lead four minutes from half time.

They would go on to finish the first half leading by seven points and with rampant offence from Quinnel Brown they went nineteen points in front in the third. London began their fight back in the fourth quarter, stringing together scoring runs they reclaimed the lead three times before it was taken back by Windsor.

Garrett Williamson gave the Lightning the late buffer they needed to see out the come-from-behind victory by a final score of 125-121. Brown led Windsor with 27 points in the contest and Chris Jones had 20 himself in the loss, while London were led by 30 points off the bench from Gaines and 25 from Cameron Forte as they get back to winning ways on the road.

KW Titans vs Halifax Hurricanes

The Titans had an early 9-2 lead, but the Hurricanes closed the gap behind Antoine Mason and Joel Kindred’s work on offence, then after eleven unanswered points they would go on to finish the first quarter leading 26-18. KW tried to close the gap from the three-point line but Halifax were able to maintain the same distance from their visitors when the first half came to a close.

Throughout the second half the Titans went in search of the lead, and made it a one-possession game on a number of occasions before going one point in front with three and a half minutes left. An unfazed Mason responded with six points in a row to put the game to bed with the Hurricanes in the win column.

Ed Horton led the Titans with 28 points while Akeem Scott had 26 off the bench in the loss. For the victorious Hurricanes, Kindred finished with 21 points, CJ Washington had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds while Antoine Mason led all with 30 points in the 120-115 win over the KW Titans.
