NBLC Recap: January 16th
Ontario was the place to be on this NBL Canada Thursday night, playing host to two high-scoring match ups - one between two of the league's high-flyers, the other between a pair of up and comers.
Windsor Storm vs KW Titans
Both Windsor and KW went into this one with just two in the win column, one would leave the Aud in Kitchener that night having changed their season standing.
Ryan Anderson got the scoring underway with a three for the Express, after which the lead went back and forth between the teams, with Windsor leading by six at its end. The second started off close, but led by Chris Jones the visitors held on to their lead, which stood at seven at half time.
The second half was Kirk Williams and Shaquille Keith's time to shine, leading the Express on offence as they outdid the Titans from the field. Akeem Ellis had the best chances of everyone on the home teams' roster, but nothing her or anyone else on the KW squad could do was enough to change the outcome.
Ellis finished as the game's top scorer with 32 points, alongside 12 total rebounds, while Akeem Scott finished with 20 and Jonathan Harris had 10 points and 12 rebounds at the end. Williams led Windsor with 27 points, while Keith had 25 to go with 13 total boards in their 125-112 victory.
Island Storm vs London Lightning
The Lightning had the advantage from the field in the first quarter, and in the second Omar Strong dominated off the bench with nineteen points in nine minutes played. This helped give London a thirteen-points lead at half time.
Alex Campbell and Johnathan Lloyd began an attempt at a comeback for the Storm when the game resumed, but even with London lessening their grip on the game, there was too much ground to make up.
Lloyd had another stand-out game for the Island Storm, leading all on his team with 29 points and 10 rebounds, Campbell following him with 24 points of his own.
Elsewhere, six of London's nine players finished in double digits, three of them registering double-doubles and two posting twenty-plus-points off the bench. Garrett Williamson led all with 30 points and 11 assists as London extend their winning streak to six after their 131-122 victory.
