NBLC Two-Game New Year's Eve 2019 Full Recap

Which two of the Atlantic Division teams would win the last games of the calendar year? Here's the full rundown of the NBL Canada's NYE line-up:

St. John's Edge vs Island Storm

A late two from Mike Edwards would the only thing that could separate the teams in the first quarter, but when the game resumed Antwon Lillard provided the spark the Storm needed to take a commanding lead, which stood at seven points at the half.

The Storm’s superior play in the field saw them keep the Edge at bay and despite a late push by Junior Cadougan, St. John’s could not do enough to avoid the loss. 25 total points from Cadougan nor 23 off the bench from Jesse Jones would not be enough, neither would great defensive shows from Karrington Ward and Montay Brandon.

Island Storm, meanwhile, saw an amazing showing from Lillard, who finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds. He was one of two players to register a double-double, the other being Johnathan Lloyd with 15 points and 10 assists, and twenty-plus points in the game, alongside Alex Campbell with 25.

Halifax Hurricanes vs Moncton Magic

The Magic had the stronger start to the game, with Billy White leading the scoring they led the Hurricanes 32-23 after ten minutes. They continued this dominant form in the second quarter, where they went on a twenty-point unbroken run en route to leading by 40 points at half time.

Antoine Mason, Tyler Scott and Ta’Quan Zimmerman gave their all in the second half to try and turn fortunes around for Halifax, but there was too much room to make up and Moncton did not let up their form for the game's remainder.

Antoine Mason led Halifax with 25 points, while Joel Kindred posted a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) off the bench, which had 56 points total for the Hurricanes in this game. Moncton, meanwhile, saw Marcus Lewis, Billy White and Maurice Jones all finish with 20 points, with Corey Allmond leading his team with 24 in the 130-108 win.
