NBL Canada Three-Game December 28th: Full Recap


Three teams made played for the first time in the 2019-20 NBL Canada season on a night full of action, drama and great performances across the board.

London Lightning vs Windsor Express

Within minutes of the start of the game, led by Derrick Nix on offence, the Windsor Express had a 14-2 lead over their biggest rivals, London Lightning. AJ Gaines then provided London the spark off London's bench to get them back into the game, after outscoring Windsor 35-20 in the second quarter they led by ten points at half time.

Windsor tightened the gap from the field in the third quarter and went in front in the fourth, only to fall behind after four lead changes in sudden succession. Kemy Osse made it a one-point game in the last two minutes and, with a second left on the clock, Shaquille Keith made the game-winning jump shot for the Express.

Mo Bolden led the Lightning with 19 points, while Derrick Nix finished as the game’s top scorer with 20 points and his team mate Sam Muldrow posted 13 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Sudbury Five vs KW Titans

The Sudbury Five had the best start to the game, leading by nine points near the end of the first quarter. In the second, though, the KW Titans took over: shutting down Sudbury on defence and Myles Charvis and Damon Lynn leading their offence, they finished the first half ahead 62-47. Sudbury tried to get themselves back into the game in the second half, but the Titans kept up their form and held on to their comfortable lead.

Braylon Rayson had 25 points for the Five and Damon Lynn led all with 31 points for the Titans in a game that saw 85 total bench points, and the KW Titans winning by 115-107.

 

Halifax Hurricanes vs Island Storm

The Island Storm came out of the blocks firing, leading the Halifax Hurricanes 35-22 at the end of the first quarter, in which Robbie Robinson scored 11 points. They were able to keep up their intensity on offence for the remainder, keeping their lead and fighting every attempt at a fight back from Halifax. The Storm consolidated their dominance in the final quarter, winning by 124 points to 99.

Antoine Mason was the game’s top scorer, with 25 points for the Hurricanes in their loss. Tremayne Johnson and Joel Kindred both posted double-doubles off the Halifax bench. Meanwhile, Antwon Lillard led the Storm with 23 points, while Nathaniel Wright impressed with 21 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.
