Two games on day two of the 2019-20 NBL Canada season couldn't have been more different from one another. Defending champions the Moncton Magic play their first home game against the St. John's Edge, while the London Lightning host the KW Titans
The KW Titans led by six points after 2:30 played, but the rest of the way it was the London Lightning in control. from the three-point line they led by seven at half time, then doing the same from the field saw them lead by as many as 21 points in the game and 102-93 at the final buzzer.
24 and 19 points from Jonathan Harris and Damon Lynn respectively, both one rebound shy of a double-double, was the good that come of this outcome for the Titans. Meanwhile, Omar Strong had 19 points off the Lightning bench, the same place AJ Gaines started but would post 17 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes played. They were the top performers in London's opener.
Having the better looks in the first half, the Edge went to the locker room up 61-45 at the break, but in the second half the Magic stepped up their defence and slowly worked their way back into the game.
Moncton went in front late in the fourth quarter, but St. John’s pulled out all the stops to There was nothing to separate the teams at the death, and overtime was needed. Billy White and Marcus Lewis combined in OT to put Moncton up by seven with a minute left, and Jason Calliste capped off the scoring from the free-throw line.
Billy White led all with 26 points as well as grabbing 10 rebounds for the Magic, who also saw another double-double from Marcus Lewis (16 points, 10 assists) and 43 points from their bench. Ryan Richardson led the Edge with 17 points, one of five players to finish in double digits in the loss.
Having kept their unbeaten streak alive, Moncton now have some time to rest, while London and KW will both be back in action on day three against the Windsor Express and Sudbury Five, respectively.
