Sudbury Five vs KW Titans: NBLC Pre-Season Recap

As the countdown to the new NBL Canada season goes on, so does the fine-tuning of team rosters, with every team looking to be ready to perform when it matters. The KW Titans travelled to Sudbury to take on the Five as part of both teams' pre-season preparations.

After an uncertain start to the game, Sudbury's three-point shooters powered them in front to a double-digit lead. The Titans responded in kind, narrowing the gap more and more throughout the second quarter. A three from Damon Lynn brought them to within one point of Sudbury, but Malcolm Duvivier and Carl Lewis had three between them in succession to keep the home team ahead 62-51 at half time.

There was a really strong showing from beyond the arc by both teams in the first half. Nine threes were made in the first quarter and at the end of the first half a total 19 three-pointers had been made.

The Titans began the second half with nine unanswered points, once again bringing them to within touching distance of the lead - the gap between the two teams throughout the third quarter. With their grip on the lead once again precarious, Sudbury went ten points in front after an unanswered run of seven. They went on to dominate possession in the decisive final quarter, capturing the win.

Damon Lynn impressed with a game-high 23 points for the Titans, while Jamell Harris and Tramar Sutherland both finished in double digits, with 15 and 11 respectively. There was also a good showing from the KW bench, who had a combined 33 points in the loss.

For victorious Sudbury, Jaylen Bland led the team with 18 points and all on the floor with 5 assists, while Marlon Johnson contributed 14 points. Brady Skeens had 12 points off the bench and Jelane Pryce had 10 as part of a perfect game on offence, making every one of his shot attempts.

The teams will be meeting again shortly after the start of the new regular season, this time in Kitchener, on December 28th.
