The 2018-19 All-Canadian Second Team
Following on from the third team, here are the next five best Canadian players to play in the 2018-19 NBL Canada season, as decided by league officials:
Chris Johnson (Cape Breton Highlanders)
A regular high-scorer for the Highlanders, Johnson was among the league’s best long-range shooters and average 13.9 points in a season where he made only 11 starts in 29 games.
Chadrack Lufile (Halifax Hurricanes)
One of the biggest defensive players in the Hurricanes’ rotation in 2018-19 and one of their top rebounders, finishing with 5.2 total rebounds per game to go with his average 7.7 points.
Ashton Smith (KW Titans)
The man from Scarborough averaged 13.0 points per game for the Titans and dished the third-most rebounds out of everyone in the NBLC this season.
Denzell Taylor (Moncton Magic)
A central part of Moncton’s defence on the season, Taylor’s 3.6 offensive rebounds was the best in all of the NBLC, and he was third overall in total boards with 7.5 per game. He also earned a spot on the All-Defensive team.
Terry Thomas (Halifax Hurricanes)
New team, same old Terry Thomas. His season was hampered by injury, but still managed to average 20.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his first season for Halifax.
Say in the comments if you're glad to see any of these players being honoured - or if you think any deserved to be in the first team.
