NBLC Reveals Defensive Team of 2018-19
The end-of-season accolades keep coming now that the championship has been handed out, this time honours go to five of the NBL Canada's top defensive players during the 2018-19 season.
Rhamel Brown (Halifax Hurricanes)
Averaging 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in 2018-19, Brown played the biggest part in Halifax's defence, earning him the Defensive Player of the Year honours.
Mo Bolden (London Lightning)
A tireless performer on both ends of the court, Bolden was central to London's lockdown defence this year, leading the Lightning both in rebounding and blocked shots.
Alex Campbell (Island Storm)
One of the biggest surprise packages of the 2018-19 season, Campbell grabbed 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 38 appearances in his standout year on the Storm.
Desmond Lee (St. John's Edge)
Much was made of Lee's scoring abilities, but on the other end of the court he proved just as formidable - he led the team in defensive rebounding with an average 6.5 boards per game, he played a big part in St. John's defensive unit that also included
Denzell Taylor (Moncton Magic)
The leading rebounder for Moncton in their championship season, Taylor took care of their defensive end, allowing for the offence that made the Magic the team to beat this season.
There are some notable names absent from this list, such as leading rebounders Juan Pattillo and Guillaume Boucard, as well as notable defensive players like Jamal Reynolds and Cory Dixon.
