MONvsHAL - Game 3 Recap

A titanic clash was what we were expecting in this Atlantic Division finals series between two of the league's biggest heavyweights - and three games in that's exactly what we've got.

The Halifax Hurricanes now enjoyed home court advantage as the series moved to the Scotiabank Centre, and were looking to regain their advantage after the Moncton Magic levelled it out with a win last time around. Few could have predicted how much the change of scenery was going to play a part in game three, though.

A perfect first quarter from Terry Thomas, where he scored 15 points, saw the Hurricanes lead by seven points early on. Moncton stepped up their defence in the second quarter, but still finding chances in the paint, they strengthened their advantage at the half.

Thomas’s dominance on the offensive end continued into the second half, where Halifax took their biggest lead of the game at 13 points. Meanwhile the Magic were looking to Trey Kell to try and turn around their fortunes, but even with their star forward finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds, Moncton found it hard to slow down their opponents’ offence.

Mike Poole, who had been quite most of the game, erupted in the fourth quarter with 14 points, bringing his total in the game to 16, capping off a commanding performance from the home team.

With an outstanding showing from Terry Thomas with 31 points and 9 rebounds in the contest, Halifax re-take the lead in the series after a 97-91 victory at home to the Magic.

The teams will return on Monday April 29th for game four, which will again take place in Halifax.
