SJEvsKIT - Game 3 Recap

The 2019 Central Division finals move to the Aud in Kitchener, where the so-far winless KW Titans were visited by the St. John's Edge, who were looking to take another step towards the championship.

Aside from the Edge taking an early lead, there was nothing between the two teams in the first half. A layup from Olu Ashaolu seconds before the half put the Edge up by one after two quarters, but that was all that separated the sides.

St. John's tried to build on their one-point lead when the game resumed, but the Titans kept up their pressure on offence. With Ashton Smith catching fire off the bench, they took a double-digit lead after an eight-point unbeaten run, and led by ten points ahead of the final quarter.

Desmond Lee gave his all in the fourth to try and turn the game around and Murphy Burnatowski capped off a team-leading 25-point performance, but the missed shots started piling up for the Edge, and they found it hard to stop their opponents on their defensive end.

Leading by as many as 17 points in the game, the Titans saw 25 points from Ed Horton and a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench from Justin Strings as they win their first game of the series, which now stands at 2-1 to St. John's.

Kitchener will play host to Game Four, which will take place on April 28th.
