SJEvsKIT - Game 1 Recap
The KW Titans travelled to the Mile One Centre to take on the St. John's Edge in their first-ever division finals game one.
Twelve points in the first quarter from Damon Lynn gave KW an early ten-point lead, but St. John's responded in the second quarter, with Carl English and Glen Davis combining on offence to give the home team a four-point lead at the half.
Ed Horton have the lead back to the Titans in the third, but the Edge re-affirmed their advantage with nine unanswered points mid-way through the third - some of those points from new signing Kyle Johnson, who did well to draw the foul in close-range traffic. The Titans were not about to go down without a fight, and kept it a close game to the final buzzer.
The lead flipped back and forth between the teams at the start of the fourth quarter, but the Titans found themselves playing catch-up after the Edge were able to eke out a five-point lead. It remained close to the very end, but five points in the last minute would seal the win for the St. John's Edge. The final score 101-94 in their favour.
Lynn finished with 23 points for the Titans while Horton tallied 21, but neither performance would be enough to lift the team to victory. English put up 22 points off the bench in his first game back for St. John's, while Davis tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Edge took their first step towards the Central Division finals.
The series resumes on April 22nd, when both teams return to the Mile One Centre for game two.
