NBLC Recap: March 29th & 30th

On the penultimate game days this NBL Canada regular season, two of the four qualified teams were looking to put themselves in the best position ahead of the playoffs.

In the Windsor Express’s last home game of the season they had the slender lead over Central Division rivals the London Lightning in the first half. Lifting them early on was bench player Chris Jones, who went on to lead the team with 32 points and 9 assists.

A blowout third quarter from the Lightning saw them outscore the Express by eleven and lead by nine points as they started the fourth, where they took their biggest lead of 14. Windsor, though, on three occasions made it a two-point game, the last being two minutes from the final buzzer. Upping their defence, though, London made sure the win would be theirs.

Juwan Howard posted 29 points off the Express bench, but with six players scoring in double digits - with Kevin Ware two assists shy of a triple-double - London get the win on the road, 121-119, over Windsor.

Fifteen points in the first quarter from Guillaume Boucard gave the Island Storm an early eleven-point lead over the visiting Cape Breton Highlanders. Cape Breton surely and slowly built their momentum and eventually went up by double digits in the fourth quarter.

Jamal Reynolds and Olu Famutimi led the Highlanders’ offence with 28 and 26 points respectively, while Brian Addison finished with 20 points and 13 total boards. 33 points and 11 rebounds from Boucard would not be enough to keep the Storm alive in this one, Cape Breton close out the season with a win, 109-102.
