NBLC Recap: March 27th & 28th


The final playoff spot being sealed was the headline at a pivotal and high-scoring NBL Canada midweek line-up.

The KW Titans clinched the final playoff spot with a blowout road win over the Sudbury Five. Sudbury saw 28 points from Braylon Rayson, but with 26 points and 13 rebonds from Akeem Ellis, 21 from Damon Lynn and superior shooting, which included 19 three-pointers, as part of their 122-99 victory.

 

Led by TJ Maston on offence, the Saint John Riptide led the Cape Breton Highlanders by 12 points at half-time. When the game resumed, Aaron Redpath had sixteen points in the third quarter alone, lifting the Highlanders to level the scoreline ahead of the fourth.

The Highlanders kept up their momentum in the final period, going on to lead by double digits and with Redpath putting up the last of his 27 points to go with his 15 total rebounds in the game. Olu Famuitimi also put up 23 points and Jamal Reynolds had 17 points and 14 rebounds as Cape Breton ran out winners, 92-89.

 

The Halifax Hurricanes led the Island Storm from start to finish at the Scotiabank Centre. The Storm did see 22 points and 10 rebounds from Tyree White, but could not match Halifax on offence. Terry Thomas led the Hurricanes with 23 points while their bench contributed a combined 61 as they outclassed the Island Storm, winning by a margin of 124-97.
