NBLC Recap: March 17th

Big numbers were the order of the day in both games on the NBL Canada's Sunday slate.

After a tight first quarter, the Saint John Riptide built a ten-point lead over the St. John's Edge in the second quarter. They added to their advantage, reaching as high as 14 in the second half, but behind Desmond Lee's 24-point performance, the Edge started to close the gap.

Behind an outstanding show from Frank Bartley - 29 points, including seven three-pointers - and with Bryce Washington and Jeremiah Mordi taking care of the defensive end, the Riptide surged to the victory by the eventual scoreline of 96-89.

The Island Storm came out firing against the visiting Windsor Express, scoring 35 points in the first quarter alone. Juan Pattillo (26 points) and Chris Jones (22 points) tried to lead the fight back for the Express, but the Storm were on the warpath and there was no stopping their offence.

Seven Island Storm players finished in double digits, with Alex Campbell leading all on the floor with 30 and 66 points coming from the bench. The Storm showed great belief they can still make the playoffs in their big win over Windsor, the final score 137-118 in their favour.
