NBLC Recap: March 13th

Wednesday saw the spotlight move to the Central Division, where both of the NBL Canada's match-ups took place.

The Windsor Express had an early seven-point lead, but behind the London Lightning’s offensive trio of Marcus Capers, Kirk Williams and AJ Gaines, the visitors to the WFCU Centre soon had a healthy lead. Windsor saw 32 points from Chris Jones and 20 points and 11 rebounds from Ryan Anderson, but unable to match their opponents’ offence, they fell behind by ten points as the game started to wind down.

Capers ended the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Gaines was outstanding with 22 points and 16 rebounds off the Lightning’s bench as they went on to get their eighth straight win, 115-106, which moves them up to second in the Central Division.

Behind 33 points and 14 rebounds from Glen Davis, and three of his starting team mates who finished in double digits, the St. John’s Edge had the lead over the visiting KW Titans, but the Titans kept up the offensive pressure, led by Ed Horton who finished as the team’s top scorer with 26.

The Edge had a five-point lead down the stretch, but two successive layups from Derek Hall made it a one-point game with thirty seconds left. Junior Cadougan did well to draw fouls and hit from the free-throw line, and with the Titans’ last shot attempts falling short, St. John’s emerged as the winners by 101 points to 97.
