NBLC Recap: February 6th

Two Wednesday night NBL Canada games - one where the result was never in doubt, and another that looked like it was going that way until the final moments.

After a close first quarter, the Windsor Express then took a nineteen-point lead just before halftime when they hosted the Halifax Hurricanes. The Hurricanes tried to cut the deficit, playing high-percentage basketball from close range - led by Joel Kindred with 19 points, one of seven Halifax players to reach the double-digit mark - but the Express were

MVP candidate Juan Pattillo's 21 points and 11 rebounds were outclassed by two of his team mates, Ryan Anderson with 35 and Chris Jones with 38, as they went on to seal the win 147-124 - a win that moves them back up to second in the Central Division.

Shooting well from the field and dropping ten threes in the first three quarters, the Saint John Riptide went into the final period with a 22-point advantage over the visiting Moncton Magic. Not about to let the game get away from them, Moncton went on the warpath in the fourth quarter - making almost three-quarters of their short-range attempts, eight three-pointers and 15 points from Marcus Lewis alongside 14 from Gentrey Thomas.

After closing the gap to two down the stretch, eight unanswered points put the Magic up by four in the final minute. Frank Bartley tried to salvage the game from the three-point line, but coming up short too many times, the Riptide were ultimately resigned to the loss. A loss that did see 24 points from TJ Maston and 22 from Bryce Washington.

With Lewis finishing with a game-high 28 points, the Moncton Magic continue to reign supreme over the NBL Canada after their incredible comeback over the Saint John with the final score 104-100.
