Know Your Team: Joey Puddister & Georges Serresse


For their inaugural season, the Sudbury Five are looking to show what Canadian basketball players can do by enlisting two home-grown names to sure up their roster.

Joey Puddister

6'0

Guard

From North Bay, Ontario

Draft: 2016 (16th Overall)

Puddister began his Ontario University Athletics career with the Algoma Thunderbirds before transferring to the Nipissing Lakers in 2014. In his final season he achieved a starting spot for the Lakers and averaged 8.4 points per game.

Following this, he turned professional and was drafted by the Niagara River Lions in the 2016 NBLC Draft. He played his first full season with Rotterdam in the Dutch Basketball League, averaging 3.5 points in 25 appearances. On January 20th, 2019, he made his NBL Canada and Sudbury Five debut.

 

Georges Serresse

6’3

Guard

From Sudbury, Ontario

Draft: 2017 (17th Overall)

Serresse began playing at Notre Dame College in Montreal, before going on to play for the Laurentian Voyageurs. He averaged 15.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in the 2012-13 season, as well as finishing in the OUA's top ten for three pointers and defensive rebounds.

He went on to play four seasons in France with Pays de Olonnes, in between he was drafted by the KW Titans in the 2017 NBL Canada Draft. In 2018, he became the first home-grown player for the Sudbury Five. After playing 32 games for Sudbury, he has scored in double digits on five occasions, the most notable being 18 points off the bench against the London Lightning on December 30th.
