NBLC Recap: March 1st
Big numbers were seen in both of the NBL Canada's Friday night games.
Tough on the defensive boards, accurate from three-point territory and with 27 points off the bench from Devin Sweetney, the Cape Breton Highlanders had the advantage over the Island Storm for the first three quarters.
The Storm went from down nine at the start of the final period, and though the Highlanders fought to save their game, Guillaume Boucard was unstoppable on offence. Putting up the last of his 39 points, he helped lift the Storm to their second successive win, 123-115, over Cape Breton.
After an uncertain start to the game, the Saint John Riptide played high-percentage basketball in the third quarter which saw them outscore the Moncton Magic 32-15 and go on to take their biggest lead of the game, 29 points.
Despite Freddie McSwain and Corey Allmond both reaching twenty points in the game, Moncton could not recover after falling behind. TJ Maston finished with 20 points for the Riptide and Frank Bartley dished nine assists to go with his 19 as the home team picked up a big win over the league leaders, 96-76.
