NBLC Recap: February 28th
Thursday and a night of high drama in the NBL Canada.
There was not much between the Island Storm and the visiting KW Titans, that was until the Storm's blowout third quarter, where they outscored the Storm 44-18. Ed Horton (team high 18 points) and Derek Hall (14 points and 18 rebounds) led the Titans' comeback attempt, but the Storm were running rampant - their lead reaching as high as 40.
With Daniel Dingle leading all scorers with 25 points, Jonathan Lloyd adding 24 off the bench in his Storm debut and a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds from Alex Campbell, the Storm ran out to a wild victory by a margin of 135 points to 96.
Braylon Rayson had an amazing start for the Sudbury Five with 19 points in the first quarter, on his way to an incredible 49 in the game. Travis Releford was not far behind him early on as well, in the end totalling 22. This sparked Sudbury to taking an early advantage over the Windsor Express - who were not about to let the game get away from them.
The Express went from 15 down to 10 in front in the third quarter, behind game-high 26 points and 13 rebounds from Juan Pattillo - one of three Windsor players to record a double-double (Ryan Anderson had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Ty Walker scored 14 and grabbed 11 total boards).
Sudbury fought back and re-took the lead down the stretch, with Rayson giving them a seven-point buffer. Windsor got to within one with seconds left, but Cory Dixon made the last points of the game from the line and Ryan Anderson missed a final attempt to save the game for Windsor. Sudbury's heads were held high at the end of this one, picking up the 126-123 win.
