NBLC Recap: February 25th
Sunday's only NBL Canada game had big ramifications in the increasingly heated Central Division.
It took a while for the Sudbury Five to get going when they hosted the St. John’s Edge - in the mean time the Edge took a twelve-point lead at half time, with Olu Ashalou had 19 points in the first half alone, going on to finish with 27, along with 12 rebounds.
Sudbury started to contain the Edge's offence and find plenty of close-range scoring chances. They took their first lead of the game after a ten-point lead late in the fourth, after which Saint John’s had trouble getting another shot to drop, and were eventually resigned to the loss.
Maurice Jones and Travis Releford both topped 20 points for Sudbury, who also saw 50 points from their bench players, on the way to the final result of 116-111. Seeing their fourth straight loss, St. John fell from the top spot in the Division.
