Malik Story's consistent high scoring have made him a valuable import to a number of teams across the globe, but though his basketball journey has taken him all over, it's the NBL Canada he keeps coming back to.
At a young age, Story led Ribert Academy to a 66-3 record in two seasons, results that saw him recruited to the Indiana Hoosiers where he posted 5.9 points and 2.2 rebounds.
He then transferred to the Nevada Wolf Pack, starting in every game. He lead the team in scoring in his first year, with 14.5 points per contest, as well as finishing as the top scoring sophomore and third-best three point shooter in the Mountain West Conference.
The following season he was the seventh-highest scorer in the conference and had the second-best scoring average for the team, who named him the most improved player. He ended his Nevada career passing one thousand points and on 15.1 points per game.
In his first year as a professional he averaged 14.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game for Saenz Horeca Araberri in the Spanish second division. He then went on to play in Slovakia for Levice and in Finland for teams Kouvot and Vilpas, for whom he started in every game in 2014-15.
In 2016, he made his NBL Canada debut for the Moncton Miracles, where he averaged 14.7 points and 3.2 rebounds in 40 games and helping the team to a 40-15 season record.
Story then entered the 2017 NBA G League Draft, where he was chosen in the fourth round by the Santa Cruz Warriors, but instead joined Dinamo Tbilisi in Georgia for the qualifying round of the FIBA Basketball Champions League.
He then returned to the NBL Canada, signing with the Cape Breton Highlanders, finishing the season on 19.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. In 2019, he signed for the his third NBLC team, the Island Storm, who looked to make use of his offensive game to help save their flagging 2018-19 season.
