NBLC Recap: February 17th

All of the NBL Canada's sunday games looked like they were going one way to start with, and then took another turn.

High-percentage play early on from the Saint John Riptide saw them lead the Halifax Hurricanes by 12 at the half. They were aided by Kemy Osse off the bench, putting up 25 points in the game.

The Riptide seemingly, though, ran out of steam in the third quarter, when Halifax went in front after 13 unanswered points. Frank Bartley’s three-point shooting put the Riptide back up in the fourth, but on his way to 23 points in the game, Mike Poole gave the Hurricanes the lead once more, a lead they maintained to the end.

Joel Kindred led Halifax with 27 points and Chadrack Lufile grabbed 16 rebounds to go with 11 points in the Hurricanes' 94-90 win over the Saint John Riptide.

A three from Chris Jones put the Windsor Express in front at the end of a first quarter where the St. John's Edge were in the driver’s seat. Windsor were able to hold on to that lead for the next two periods of play until the fourth, when St. John's closed the gap to one and then went in front after nine unanswered points.

The Express were led by Jones and Horace Wormely - respectively scoring 33 and 32 total points in the game - but the Edge put up too big a barrier for them to come back at the end. St. John's saw 22 points from Diego Kapelan and Glen Davis finished with 32 as well as 16 rebounds as they took down Windsor for the second game in a row, this time by 115 points to 107.

After a back-and-forth first half, the London Lightning went in front of the KW Titans after an eight-point run and went on to lead by nine points at the half-time buzzer. The Titans played tough defence as part of their third-quarter fight back - Derek Hall was the standout with 22 points and 13 points, while Ashton Smith contributed 18 points - but a late offensive surge from London ensured them the win.

With 49 bench points, and 66 points from their starters, with Mo Bolden leading all with 19 - London move up to third in the Central Division after their 115-104 win over the Titans.
