Know Your Team: Marcus Lewis

Moncton Magic

6'4

Guard

From Streamwood, Illinois

In January 2019, the Moncton Magic added to their ranks Marcus Lewis, a player with plenty of NBL Canada experience and known for an exuberant style on-court.

As a senior at Streamwood High School, he averaged 20.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.1 blocks per game, as well as winning the Chicago High School Classic Dunk Contest.

He moved on to the Parkland Cobras in Champaign, Illinois - where he gained exposure through his flamboyant playing style that, in 2014, saw him drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters (though he never played).

In 2011, he joined the South Suburban Bulldogs in South Holland, where he contributed 13.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 steals on 59% field shooting on the season. He then finally made the move to Division 1 of the NCAA and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. After two seasons he averaged 7.9 points per game and reached the second round of the Division 1 tournament in 2014.

Lewis began his professional career in 2015 with the Niagara River Lions. After seven starts in fifteen games and 9.9 points per game his first season, he played a much larger role in his second. Appearing in 30 games, he averaged 13.8 points per contest in 2016-17.

The following season he joined the St. John's Edge, but saw limited playing time. In 2018, he became one of the first signings for the Sudbury Five, but never played for the new franchise. Instead, he joined the Moncton Magic, and with an average 8.5 points in only six games, he has become one of their most productive rotation players.
