NBLC Recap: February 3rd

Sunday's two cross-divisional NBL Canada games had similar final results, but had far different ramifications:

Through their starting duo of TJ Maston, Frank Bartley and Chris Early, the Saint John Riptide had a double-digit lead throughout the first half on their visit to the Eastlink Centre to take on the Island Storm, who begin their push for a place in the playoffs in the second half of the season.

The Storm were lifted by a perfect fourth quarter showing from Guillaume Boucard, where he scored 14 of his total 19 points. In his Storm debut Malik Story led all scorers with 28 points while Sampson Carter contributed 23 points and 9 assists. They took the lead half-way through the fourth quarter and went on to win, 115-111.

Early on in Kitchener, the Windsor Express had the slight edge over the KW Titans, who came out with renewed vigour in the second half, surging into the lead after falling behind by seven - the largest gap in the game.

Juan Pattillo would outscore everyone on the floor with 24 points, while his team mate Horace Wormely finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Standing out for the Titans was Derek Hall with 22 points and 13 rebounds and Damon Lynn had 21 points off the bench, while the rest of their starters all scored in double digits.

Outscoring Windsor by nine in the third quarter would buoy the Titans on to victory by 117-112 and keep them in fourth place in the Central Division.
