NBLC Recap: January 26th

Saturday saw two contrasting games in both divisions of the NBL Canada:

The Saint John Riptide did not look back after opening with eight unanswered points, leading the Halifax Hurricanes from start to finish, by as many as seventeen points. Halifax contested every possession they could, and with 17 points Terry Thomas was leading scorer out of four starters who scored in double digits - Chadrack Lufile also had 10 rebounds to go with his 10 points. They could not, however, contain the Riptide's offence.

TJ Maston contributed his best performance for the Riptide to date with 35 points and 11 rebounds, while Frank Bartley added 24 points in their dominant victory over the Hurricanes by a final scoreline of 95 to 78.

The Island Storm had the lead over the London Lightning for the first half at the Gardens, but it was a lead they had to fight for. Guillaume Boucard led the fight for the Storm with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Sampson Carter added 20 and Alex Campbell and Tyree White both managed double-doubles.

London kept contesting the lead, eventually breaking through in the third quarter and going on to a commanding double-digit lead in the fourth. With 18 points apiece, Mo Bolden and Garrett Williamson (who also had 10 rebounds) led a rampant comeback for the Lightning, winning in the end 105-93 and moving into fourth in what has become a wide-open Central Division. The Storm, meanwhile, remain bottom in the Atlantic Division with their fourth straight loss.
