NBLC Recap: January 25th

Central met Atlantic Division in both Friday night match-ups in the NBL Canada:

The Cape Breton Highlanders had the advantage in the first quarter, but it didn't take long for the visiting Sudbury Five to put themselves in the driving seat. Cory Dixon led Sudbury in a string of scoring runs, giving them a double-digit lead which they were able to maintain and protect on the defensive end.

Deshaunt Walker had 25 points and Bruce Massey finished with 23 points and 9 rebounds, but that would not be enough to lift Cape Breton. With 35 points from Braylon Rayson and double-doubles from Dixon (21 points, 16 rebounds) and Travis Releford (20 points, 10 rebounds), Sudbury continue to re-find their form of early in the season, moving up to third in the Central Division following their 116-106 win over the Highlanders.

The Halifax Hurricanes and the Windsor Express were tight throughout the first half, but when the game resumed the Hurricanes started to build on their lead behind Rhamel Brown, and in the fourth took advantage of a complete drop in form from the Express to lead by 38 points in the contest.

Chris Jones led the Express in scoring with 16 points off the bench, while four of their starters finished in double digits, while Halifax saw 27 from Mike Poole and double-doubles from Brown, Jordan Washington and Chadrack Lufile, in their rampant victory over the Express, 128-97.
