NBLC Recap: January 18th & 19th

Big results in two days of NBL Canada basketball at a pivotal time of the season:

After falling behind early to the Island Storm, the Moncton Magic blitzed the visiting team in the second half, leading by as many as 22 points. The Storm saw double-doubles from bench players Guillaume Boucard (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Dominic Shuler (20 points, 12 rebounds), but found themselves with too big a mountain to climb with too little time remaining in the game.

For Moncton, seven of their players score in double digits, with Corey Allmond leading them all with 20 points, while Nick Evans recorded 13 points and 10 total rebounds. They are back in the fight for the top spot in the Atlantic Division after their 110-103 defeat of the Storm.

The London Lightning took an early lead as they paid a visit to the Mile One Centre to take on the St. John's Edge. Desmond Lee began the fight back for the Edge, clearing the way for Glen Davis to lead all the team with 31 points and for Obinna Oleka to put on a great rebounding show, with 24 total boards in the contest.

Bolstered by 33 total points from Xavier Moon, London closed the gap early in the second half, but they would get no closer to the lead than that. The Edge built a double-digit lead in the third and were able to maintain it to the end, where they were on top 109-100.

After the Windsor Express lead by eleven early on at their visit to Kitchener, the KW Titans closed the gap by the end of the second quarter. In the second half the lead flipped back and forth between the two until Windsor were able to string scoring runs together to lead by ten down the stretch, eventually seeing out victory 100-92.

Windsor saw more amazing performances from Juan Pattillo (30 points, 14 rebounds) and Horace Wormely (18 points, 12 rebounds) as they handed KW their fourth straight loss and moved above them in the Central Division with their fifth successive victory.
