Know Your Team: Kyle Arsenault & Alex Campbell

This season, the Island Storm welcome two home-grown players to their ranks, and have seen great development from both of them since joining the team - hopefully continuing to grow and help the team meet their aspirations this year.

Kyle Arsenault

6'5

Forward

From Fredericton, New Brunswick

Arsenault played five years with the Acadia Axemen, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, going on to start in every game in his fourth season where he posted career-best averages of 18.7 points per game on 49% field shooting and 46% three-point shooting. He capped off his Axemen career with 16.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest in his senior year.

He then joined the KW Titans for his first professional season in 2017, appearing in thirty games, before joining the Island Storm for the following NBLC season. The three-point shooting that he showcased so well at Acadia has followed him to the professional ranks, becoming one of his most valued qualities - more so as his still-young career starts to move on.

Alex Campbell

6’2

Guard

From Brampton, Ontario

After graduating from Brampton Centennial Secondary School, Campbell played two seasons with the Niagara Knights in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association. In 2013 he then transferred to the Windsor Lancers of USports, where he registered career-best totals of 12.5 points per game on 50.9% field shooting in the 2014-15 season.

In 2016, Campbell signed first professional contract with Windsor Express, appearing in eight games before joining the Saint John Riptide, where he played nine games, four of which he started.

He played the following season for Juventud in the Spanish second division, averaging 6.9 points in 41 games. After which, he represented Canada in the 2018 William Jones Cup, regularly leading the team in assists en route to their second successive victory in the competition.

He then joined the Island Storm, at first as a role player, but found his part grow after the departure of Franklin Session from the team . Promoted to starter, after sixteen games Campbell had averaged 10.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest, at which point he was in the top twenty in the league for the latter two.

Coming into his element in such a short space of time, it's easy to see why Campbell has become a revelation for the Storm this season.
