Know Your Team: Brent Arrington & Daniel Dingle

This NBL Canada season, the Saint John Riptide have helped two newcomers to league, but with NCAA and NBA G League experience, unlock their true potential as professionals.

Brent Arrington

6’3

Guard

From Baltimore, Maryland

Arrington's 17.8 points, 8.2 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game in his senior year at Lansdown High School won him the attention of the NCAA Division 1 side the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils, for whom he played in 2011, averaging 6.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in 31 appearances.

In 2013 he made the move to the Morehead State Eagles, where he averaged 11.8 points in his first year, earning him a starting spot on the team for his junior and senior seasons. At the end of his tenure with Morehead State, he had averaged 11.0 points per contest.

Becoming professional in 2016, Arrington signed with Jaszberenyi in Hungary, where he posted 12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game on the season.

After appearing in three games for the Charlotte Hornets' NBA G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swam, and representing Illinois BC in the 2018 edition of The Basketball Tournament, he joined the Saint John Riptide for the 2018-19 season.

Daniel Dingle

6’7

Forward

From Bronx, New York

In 2012, Dingle helped St. Raymond capture Catholic High School Athletic Association championship, as well as winning league MVP honours for himself. This saw him recruited to the Philadelphian NCAA Division 1 team, the Temple Owls.

He built on his game season-by-season with the Owls and became a starter in his senior year, where he averaged 12.6 points per game - the third best average of the whole team - as well as 4.5 rebounds and a career-best 38% three-point shooting. He also appeared in the 2016 Division 1 tournament, where Temple lost their first-round game 72-70 to the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Dingle won his first professional contract in 2017 with the Maine Red Claws in the NBA G League. Appearing in 30 games, he averaged 2.9 points and 1.4 in rebounds and assists in the season. He then signed with the Saint John Riptide for the 2018-19 NBL Canada season.

While their numbers so far may make them appear somewhat unassuming, both players are seeing the best performances of their careers so far since joining the Riptide. After each appearing in 18 games, Dingle has averaged 10.2 points largely off the bench. Arrington, meanwhile, has started in every game, averaging 11.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists - the last being highest on anyone on the Saint John roster.
