NBLC Rooks: Windsor Express Edition


The players making their professional debut in the NBL Canada.

 

Marcus Jones

6'2 Guard from Brantford, Ontario

As a high-school student, Jones captained his team at the Athlete Institute in Orangeville, Ontario, and was named one of the top 10 point guards in the Canadian class of 2013.

He moved on to Erie, Pennsylvania, and played four years with the Gannon Golden Knights in the NCAA Division 2. In his first year he shot 56% from the field - a record for a Golden Knights debutant - and in his next season he was second on the team in assists.

After spending his final college year with the Windsor Lancers in Canada, he turned professional and was drafted fifteenth overall by the Cape Breton Highlanders in the 2018 NBL Canada draft, before making his way to Windsor and the Express.

 

Miroslav Jaksic

6'11 Forward from Belgrade, Serbia

Jaksic's basketball talents were first seen at the W.F. Herman Secondary School in Windsor, Ontario, where he was recruited to Walled Lake Western High School in Michigan, averaging 18.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in his senior year.

In 2011, Jaksic represented Canada at the FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship, where he helped the team to second place in Group A with wins over Chile and Mexico and later defeating Puerto Rico in the bronze medal game.

In five years of college eligibility, he played for the NCAA Division 1 side Grand Canyon Antelopes for two seasons, one year with the Toronto Varsity Blues and finally the Oklahoma Christian Eagles, averaging 6.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game as a senior.

 

Daniel Dooley

6’8 Centre from Burlington, Ontario

Dooley played five years with CIS team the Guelph Gryphons. In his senior year he has the most playing time of any player in the league, and ended his tenure in Guelph with averages of 11.5 points, 3.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game.
