NBLC Recap: January 13th

The NBL Canada stays in top gear with plenty of big performances and dramatic moments in two high-energy match-ups on Sunday:

The Island Storm began their game against the Halifax Hurricanes with an 8-0 run and ended the first quarter ahead 35 points to 21. Finishing with 23 points and 8 rebounds in the game, Terry Thomas did his all to try and turn the game around for Halifax, as did their bench, who put up 65 points. With the far superior show on offence, the Storm led from start to end.

Sampson Carter led the Storm with 21 points and 13 rebounds, and their bench players put up 54, as they continue to improve with their second win in a row, 118-100, over Halifax.

The Saint John Riptide led by 12 points in the first half during their visit to Ontario to take on the London Lightning. After the Lightning responded with a ten-point unanswered run, the game turned into a much tighter affair, until the fourth quarter when four Riptide players combined to give them a double-digit lead.

With a team-high 22 points off the bench, Kirk Williams tried to lift London, as did Xavier Moon, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds, but they couldn't make the most of their shooting chances as the Riptide did. Saint John saw 26 points from Frank Bartley, 24 off the bench from TJ Maston and 13 points and 10 rebounds from Jeremiah Mordi, as they handed London their third straight loss, 107-98.
