NBLC Recap: January 11th
Friday proved to be a significant game day for the teams who took to the court in the NBL Canada.
With superior showing from close-range, the Island Storm led the visiting Moncton Magic from the beginning and by their highest margin, 26 points, in the third quarter. Gentrey Thomas and Corey Allmond did all they could to lead the fight back for the Magic, on their way to 21 and 19 points respectively, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Guillaume Boucard had 18 points off the bench in his debut for the Storm, who also saw double-doubles from Sampson Carter (21 points, 10 rebounds) and Dominic Shuler (12 points and rebounds) as they snap their ten-game losing streak and hand Moncton their fourth straight defeat by a score of 108 to 91.
After trailing the Saint John Riptide throughout the first half, the Windsor Express took advantage of an offensive meltdown from their opponents and surged into the lead. Frank Bartley, Kemy Osse and Jeremiah Mordi all scored in the teens for the Riptide, but they and the team could not keep up the momentum when it counted.
All of Windsor’s starters finished in double digits, with Ryan Anderson also grabbing ten rebounds to go with his 12 points, as they continue to improve on the season, moving up to a 7-8 record after their 102-86 win over the Riptide.
