Know Your Team: Reggie Hamilton

Windsor Express

5’11

Guard

From Chicago, IL

A highly decorated college player and well-travelled and experienced professional, as well as a regular high-scorer, Reggie Hamilton is a welcome addition to both the Windsor Express and the NBL Canada this season.

With Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois, Hamilton reached the state tournament in junior year and averaged 17.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game as a senior.

From there he joined the UMKC Kangaroos in 2007. He showed early promise, going on to become the third-highest scorer in freshman year. He spent two years with the Kangaroos before moving on to an exemplary tenure with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.

In his debut season in Oakland he played in Round 1 of 2011 NCAA Division 1 championship tournament, where the team lost 85-81 to the Texas Longhorns. In his second and last season with the Golden Grizzlies he scored 942 points, the highest in all of the NCAA in the 2011-12 season. His efforts here won him the 2012 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award.

After representing the Indiana Pacers in the 2012 NBA Summer League, Hamilton went on to Italy, playing for Pesaro and Ferentino in brief stints. The following season he was claimed by the Idaho Stampede in the NBA D-League. At the end of two seasons for Idaho, he had averaged 8.5 points and 2.3 assists per game.

In 2015, Hamilton then played in 11 games for Tarnobrzeg in Poland, before returning to Italy, where he played for both Sacafati and Chieti. He then went on to play for Niigata Albirex in Japan as well as teams in Qatar, Argentina and the Dominican Republic.

He joined the Windsor Express in the 2018 NBLC off-season, and soon established himself as one of the most exciting newcomers to the league. So far he has averaged 9.9 points in 9 games and has a flawless record from the free-throw line.

If he can build on these initial results, he can become a big component for success for the Express this season.
