NBLC Recap: December 6th
Thursday night in the NBL Canada proved to be dramatic and momentous for both players and spectators alike.
After being down by ten just after the start of the second half at the Gardens, a faultless Juan Pattillo turned the tables around for the Windsor Express, who soon found themselves in the lead against the London Lightning. Lifting London back into the driver’s seat was Mo Bolden with an amazing performance, 28 points and 15 total rebounds.
Windsor went from four down to one up as the game started to wind down. Keeping the Lightning afloat in this crucial part of the game were AJ Gaines and Xavier Moon, who finished with 20 points. A decisive jump shot from Kevin Ware put London up by three, and though Juan Pattillo closed the gap to one from the line, their last attempts to steal the win fell short. London emerged victorious by a single point following a dramatic conclusion to this game.
Trailing the Sudbury Five by ten points early on, the Saint John Riptide then out-shot their opponents in the field to close the gap to two at half time. Kemy Osse gave the Riptide a one-point lead from the line, a lead Daniel Dingle and Randy Phillips stretched out as the game went on.
Sudbury saw 29 points from Braylon Rayson double-doubles from Grandy Glaze off the bench (12 points, 17 rebounds) and Jaylen Bland (25 points, 13 rebounds), from whom a last-second three-pointer took the game to overtime.
In the extra period, Daniel Dingle and Frank Bartley finished off outstanding performances for the Riptide – Dingle had 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, Bartley finished with a team-high 24 points – gifting Saint John their first win of the season, 115-111 over the Sudbury Five.
