Know Your Team: Cordell Jeanty
Moncton Magic
6’5
Forward
From Toronto, Ontario
Few players have more authority on the NBL Canada than one of its longest-serving veterans, who is back with the team he has seen his biggest career successes.
Jeanty started out with the John A Logan Volunteers, averaging 24.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, then joined the SIU Edwardsville Cougars for the remaining two years of his NCAA Division 1 eligibility.
Turning professional in 2011, Jeanty has been with the NBL Canada from the start. He signed with the Quebec Kebs for the inaugural season, reaching the playoff semifinals. He then joined the Moncton Miracles for two seasons, in his second he put up a career-best end-of-season average of 7.7 points per game.
Staying in the NBLC, he then moved to the Island Storm in 2014, but after seeing limited playing time he rejoined Moncton the next season. This move saw his game improve, as he averaged 6.2 points and a career-best 4.5 rebounds at the end of the season.
After another season with Moncton, he joined the Cape Breton Highlanders in 2017, averaging 4.1 points and 4.0 rebounds across fourteen games. Hub City, though, is obviously a big draw for Jeanty, as he is once again rejoining the Moncton Magic for his seventh pro season. Will it bring out the best in his game once again?
