Know Your Team: Jarryn Skeete
St. John's Edge
6’3
Guard
From Brampton, Ontario
In only his third year as a professional, Jarryn Skeete has established himself as a key player for the St. John's Edge and his skills have marked him as one to watch, both now and in the future.
An accredited high school point guard, Skeete was named 1A All-State Most Valuable Player in his senior year for Wasatch Academy in Utah. From there, he went on to play four years for the NCAA Division 1 side the Buffalo Bills in New York.
With the Bulls, Skeete was named to the Mid-American Conference and All-Freshman team, and twice made it to the first round of the NCAA championship. He finished his career in Buffalo averaging 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Skeete then began his pro playing career with newly-formed Cape Breton Highlanders in 2016. He played in 22 games in his debut season, achieving averages of 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
The following season he joined another NBL Canada expansion team, the St. John's Edge. He saw far more playing time in St. John's, and put up his best performance against the Niagara River Lions on March 22nd. He scored 20 points, made over half his field goal attempts and shot 60% from three-point territory. His efforts helped see the Edge to the Central Division finals.
Skeete has already seen a lot of success and played high-level basketball, and his confident, strong game has made him a high-value player for the Edge - and still young, there's plenty of time for his talent still to grow.
