One of the most notable offensive NBL Canada players of recent memory, Terry Thomas has never strayed far from his homeland, with his new team, the third he has played for in Canada, will be the one closest to home.

Thomas's basketball journey began in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, with the St Francis Xavier X-Men, for whom he won numerous All-Atlantic University Sport honours, and made it to the USports Final 8 Tournament.

He saw similar success with his second college team, the Ottawa Gee-Gees: his 22.4 point average was the fourth-best nationwide in the 2013/14 season. The Gee-Gees became the top-seeded team in the country and made it to the university championship final, but lost to the Carleton Ravens.

Thomas turned professional in 2014, joining the Hamburg Towers in Germany, finishing with 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. His season in Germany over, he returned to Canada and joined the Island Storm. Averaging 18.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, he was named Canadian Player of the Year in his debut season, and named to the All-NBLC First Team in his second.

He then joined the Moncton Magic in 2017, becoming the team’s leading scorer in the 2017/18 season and averaging a career-best 19.4 points per game. In the same season he was also named to the All-NBL Canada First team.

Since joining NBLC, his scoring percentages have risen year-on-year, and has made a name for himself as one of the biggest offensive threats in the league. His new team, the Halifax Hurricanes, will be hoping the trend continues in 2018-19.
